So I am down here in Lima with a wonderful opportunity as Fogarty International Global Health Fellow for 11 months with the Northern Pacific Fogarty Global Health Consortium (U Washington, U Hawaii, U Michigan, U Minnesota). Whenever people ask me how long I am staying in Lima and I answer “Por 11 meses (For 11 months)”, the reply is always “O…casi un año (Oh…almost 1 year)”. So hence the title of my blog. I’ll be working on two projects: the first to set up a neurosyphilis diagnostic clinic at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM), and the second to do genotyping to identify the different bacterial strains that exist in high-risk groups for syphilis.
I am truly grateful to all my mentors, family and friends (like YOU!) who are supporting me. I wouldn’t have gotten this far without any of you. Thank you for your support!
